All new programs are initially accredited for one year and again revisited after one year to verify the rectification of weak areas observed by the team. Upon full accreditation of any program, the subsequent scrutiny is carried out after three years. According to the Pakistan Engineering Council, "an engineering program is an organized educational experience that consists of a cohesive set of courses or other educational modules sequenced so that reasonable depth is obtained in the upper-level courses. A definite engineering system should be obvious in the program and, again, depth should be reached in pursuing courses in engineering stem. Moreover, the program should develop the ability to apply pertinent knowledge to the practice of engineering. An engineering program must also involve the broadening educational objectives expected in modern education." In June, 2010, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) became a provisional member of the Washington Accord.
